Every officer is Crisis Intervention Team Certified, continuously honing their skills through cutting-edge training, and we make sure our officers are well-equipped with the resources necessary to successfully resolve incidents.

Current Hiring Status

We are now hiring entry-level and certified Police Officers. We are not currently hiring lateral applicants at this time.

Our agency transitioned to PST’s new written exam on March 1, 2025. At this time, we are only considering candidates who have taken the new written exam. If you submit scores from the old test, you will be asked to retake the new PST test at the designated rate and reapply.

Police Officer

Spokane Police Patrol works a 10 hour 40 min shift on one of three schedules:

Day Shift: 0600hrs to 1640hrs
Mid Shift: 1200hrs to 2240 hrs
Graveyard: 2000hrs to 0640hrs

Officers work 15 days a month and have two consecutive weekends off:
5 days on, 4 days off
5 days on, 4 days off
5 days on, 5 days off

Specialized Units

SPD has created a number of specialized units dedicated to driving down crime  in Spokane.

WASPC Accreditation

The Spokane Police Department is proud to hold a certification under the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chief Accreditation Program. This accreditation reflects the highest standards of policing and represents agencies that successfully implement best practices and standards. SPD has held this accreditation for the last decade.
