Every officer is Crisis Intervention Team Certified, continuously honing their skills through cutting-edge training, and we make sure our officers are well-equipped with the resources necessary to successfully resolve incidents.

Current Hiring Status

The Spokane Police Department is not currently hiring entry-level, certified, or lateral Police Officers.

patrol schedule

Police Officer

Spokane Police Patrol works a 10 hour 40 min shift on one of three schedules:

Day Shift: 0600hrs to 1640hrs
Mid Shift: 1200hrs to 2240 hrs
Graveyard: 2000hrs to 0640hrs

Officers work 15 days a month and have two consecutive weekends off:
5 days on, 4 days off
5 days on, 4 days off
5 days on, 5 days off

Spokane Police Department Careers- police officer

Police Officer

Salary: $73,100.88 – $132,963.84

Protect and serve the community of Spokane by becoming an entry-level Police Officer. This position is for applicants who are not currently a Police Officer for a different department and have not completed any police officer certification courses. Applicants must take and pass the Public Safety Test before submitting their application to the City of Spokane.

Protect and serve the community of Spokane by becoming a Police Officer. This position is for applicants who have successfully completed the Washington State Criminal Justice Basic Law Enforcement Academy. Job seekers who have less than 2 years of experience are encouraged to apply.

This is a promotional position for current Police Officers of the Spokane PD. Detectives perform specialized work in the investigation of criminal offenses and related police problems.

This is a promotional position for current Police Officers of the Spokane PD. A Police Sergeant performs first-level supervisory field or office police work.

Salary: $181,760.40 – $198,861.12

This is a promotional position for current Police Officers of the Spokane PD. A Police Lieutenant performs responsible supervisory police work in command of an assigned shift, unit, or other administrative police detail.
